players either get to select a controller port first or strike a stage first. if players do not mutually agree on their port preference, do a best of 1 rock paper scissors match (referred to just as "rps" here out) to determine ports.
“stage striking” is defined as removing stages from the starter list to decide the stage for the first game.
1 ban after game wins during best of 3 sets
there are no bans after game wins during best of 3 sets
players may not pick any stage they previously won a game on during a set
gentlemen's / mutual agreement
all sets are best of 3 until the following are best of 5:
singles: top 32 (for halloween inyim)
doubles: top 5 (for halloween inyim)
a player is considered to be wobbling if the following conditions are met:
activating the “freeze glitch” with ice climbers is not allowed
penalties may or may not be enforced at the sole discretion of organizers
stalling ( excessively delaying the game or match ) may result in a game or match forfeit at the sole discretion of organizers
continuing infinite combos past 300% is stalling
if a game goes to sudden death, the winner is determined by stocks and percentage at the time the game ends when the timer hits 0:00
the player with the higher stock count is the winner
if both Players are tied in stocks, the player with the lower percentage is the winner
in the event of a percentage tie or a game in which both players lose their last stock simultaneously, both players will receive a game win
in the above scenario, if the set was tied (1-1 or 2-2) a tiebreaker will be played on the same stage for 1 stock and 2 minutes
if the 1 stock 2 minute tiebreaker game ALSO goes to sudden death, play it out and the results of sudden death will be counted
if a player either intentionally or accidentally pauses the game by either pressing the start button or unplugging their own or their opponent’s controller, the player who paused forfeits a stock
organizers may approve a game restart due to exceptional circumstances, such as a power outage
if a game was played under a misconfiguration of the settings listed above, a player may petition an organizer or pool captain to have the game replayed
the final decision is at the discretion of organizer or pool captain
this must be done immediately after the game in question!
any other rules not mentioned here, like the typical match Pprocedure, are addressed in the melee recommended ruleset
we'll refer to said ruleset if we don’t remember how something is usually handled off the top of our heads
